Tile FAQ's

How Do I Clean Tiles

Compared to other flooring types, keeping your tiles shining like new is a reasonably low-maintenance task. Use warm water and a bit of soap or another cleaning product with a rag or mop to keep your tiles shining like new for years. If it is a Linoleum or Vinyl tile, you may need to use a low-impact soap and none abrasive rag to avoid damage.

What Is a Rectified Tile

A rectified tile is completed with all sides exactly the same size. This keeps the tiles uniform causing minimal grount lines making it appear as one large tiled area. Fewer grout lines make it easier to keep clean and maintain your tiles.

Can I tile Over Tile?

What is the difference between floor and wall tiles?

Although any tile can typically be used for either your floor or wall, a floor tile is made thicker and more robust to withstand foot traffic. Most floor tiles have added texture to reduce the risk of slips. Wall tiles tend to be thinner, smoother and more delicate. Wall tiles also often become slicker when wet, which is why they may not be suitable for your floor. Need help selecting a tile for your needs? Please speak to one of our team today.

What is a lappato tile?

A lappato finish is partially polished, also known as semi-polished or honed tile. They are generally made from porcelain and can come glazed or unglazed. The effect is a soft matt finish with areas of sheen gently reflecting light. It is a contemporary finish and is popular on both floors and walls. They are the perfect balance between polished and matt tiles, shinier than matte but with a gentler finish than a traditional polished tile.

What is a Matte Tile?

An extra coat is added to the topmost layer in matte tiles to achieve a non-shiny, subtle look. The most defining feature of matte tiles is their anti-slippery nature, making them ideal flooring options for all spaces, including those with high water usages like bathrooms, kitchens, and balconies. Matte tiles have a granular and hard surface that helps create a rustic look.

What is a Gloss TIle?

Gloss tiles are the typical shiny, light-reflecting tiles seen in most bathrooms. The reflection on gloss tiles opens small spaces and allows little light to bounce around your room. A standard choice in colour for most of our clients is a glossed white tile.
